Oshkosh Commercial Group expands its lineup of alternative-fueled vehicles.

DODGE CENTER, Minn. (February 5, 2013) – The Oshkosh Commercial Group, part of Oshkosh Corporation (NYSE:OSK), today unveiled the Oshkosh® S-Series front discharge concrete mixer powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) at McNeilus booth #C6439 at the World of Concrete exhibition that runs through February 8 in Las Vegas, Nev. Upon completion of the exposition, the vehicle will be delivered to Action Ready Mix Concrete located in Bohemia, NY.

Other vehicles on display at the McNeilus booth include a McNeilus® Standard Mixer and two McNeilus Bridgemaster® Mixers – one of which is powered by CNG.

“We’ve been manufacturing CNG-powered commercial vehicles since 2006, and we understand how to help ready-mixed producers take advantages of new technology,” said Frank Busicchia, McNeilus Companies vice president of sales. “Cleaner burning and quieter running engines, lower fuel costs, and an abundant domestic supply add up to bottom-line results that make CNG a smart choice for both front discharge and rear discharge fleets.”

The Oshkosh S-Series CNG vehicle is powered by a Cummins-Westport ISL-G 8.9 liter engine with 320 horsepower. The vehicle features an 11-cubic yard McNeilus drum with a 45-inch opening. The rugged Oshkosh transfer case and proprietary axles were developed for military vehicles, and the vehicle’s patented Load Span Tag Axle (LSTA) features a hydraulic system with a higher weight rating than other tag axles. The ergonomic cab is optimized for unsurpassed visibility and easier troubleshooting, and offers an automotive style HVAC system.

The McNeilus Standard Mixer and Bridgemaster Mixers in the World of Concrete booth are displayed with a range of popular options and aftermarket products available through McNeilus Street Smart Parts®, including the Street Smart Parts Vision System HD rear camera and in-cab monitor that provide drivers with a much better overall view for safer backing.

“We are excited to be here to showcase a wide range of vehicles, all designed to maximize payloads and improve our customers’ productivity,” added Busicchia. “We’ve continued to invest in our products and services throughout the building industry downturn, and the results of that commitment are on display at our booth.”
